Where Are The Churches?

The health care debate rages on this summer and if you've been
watching cable news you know it has gotten heated. I have one
question: Where are the local churches? Throughout American
history whenever there is a need in the community, churches and
other faith groups would step to fill in the gap. Many of our hospitals
were started by religious organizations to help the sick, as noted
in this video:

Do you think religious organizations are doing enough to help those
in America that are sick and uninsured? Huge "megachurches"
with state of the art facilities are being built all across the country,
surely people of faith can fund projects that help our communities
become healthier.

While people in Washington are debating what to about those that are
uninsured perhaps it is the perfect time for those in the religious community
to say, "While you guys engage in political fight, we are actually doing
something." The Church would be much more efficient than anything coming
out of Washington.

I would say that stepping up will also help the Church gain access back
into American culture and life. If the State is feeding the poor and healing
the sick, why do people need the local church?

Matthew 25:36:
I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after
me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
