Passing out the signs at the Obama rally

I had front row access today at a Sen. Obama's rally today here in
Corpus Christi, TX. I was even able to shake the senator's hand and
say "hi." I think we all know by now that everything in politics is staged.
I recorded someone from the Obama campaign passing out signs
made by the campaign that looked homemade for people to hold up.
I thought it was interesting how the process works. When someone
from the campaign was coming toward my direction with a sign that
said "Tejanos for Obama," I held to my camcorder tightly because
I didn't want to be holding a sign just because I'm Hispanic.

Here's the video of them passing out the signs to the people:

I first noticed fake homemade signs like that watching Robot Wars on Techtv, then that celebrity boxing show on Fox, and lately on the new American Gladiators. It's really sad the lengths people will go to create the impression of enthusiasm for someone on a reality tv show, much less a politician. It says alot about politicians that they are learning how to manipulate the public by watching reality tv.

Standard practice, going back at least as far as the Reagan campaign rally I went to in the 80s.

It lets the campaign organizers filter out the inevitable "Abortion is Murder" and "Bushitler" signs that people try to hijaak rallies with. It also helps the Secret Service keep out weapons by having less irregular "things" for them to have to screen.

Anon made some good points, but who decide the messages to be displayed? Obabma or someone he can conveniently throw under the bus?
A fake "Tejanos for Obama" implies support from a specific cultural group that may or may not exist. The Democratic Party has worked real hard to break down the United States into easily control ethnic and cultural blocks, and that is not a good thing. Obama appears to be every inch the racist Reverend Wright accuses me of being.

Gee, Anonymous

You really meant to say that various kinds of printed signs have been handed out freely at these events, didn't you?

The point about this post was that the signs are made to appear homemade. This is a different trend, and you and I both know it.

The 'homemade' she was talking about vanished when those people left their homes without them .....

Read the post, Teresa said that the signs were handed out by political operatives at the rally for other people to hold up. They may have been made in the home of someone, but that is obviously not the point.

This is typical Chicago style dishonest politics, but at least it's a "change".

Most political events are staged...so what...

But Barrack Hussein Obama is nothing but a marxist and his goal, like any good marixst/socialist, is to control every aspect of our lives. If this guy get elects, say good-bye to liberty and freedom. They will no longer be allowed...

No thank you. I will fight against that in every way possible.

That bastard. Now he's giving out signs. Will he stop at nothing? When will the madness end?

By the way, anyone see Obama himself give out a sign? No. This is called campaigning-you have people do stuff like that. Think McCain doesn't?

Fake homemade signs from a fake campaign by a fake cadidate.

Who know?

If The LeftTards can believe anything they want about Bush, Cheney and 9/11 - even though facts (Popular Mech debunking 9/11 conspiracies for one) prove them wrong, please do not deny those of us who choose to "beleive" that Obama is a phony, a fake, a fraud, a charlatan, a poser and a Muslim.

A great post! Loved the video!

Anon, I think your deliberately not getting the point.
His campaign is giving out deceptive "seemingly homemade" signs to give the impression that the sign was made by the holder and reflects the sentiments of the holder.
If they were not trying to be deceptive why not hand out signs that are obviously mass made and obviously campaign signs like the ones that littler the sides of the roads.
This is dishonest.

Why would this come as a surprise to anyone that actually bothers to investigate these candidates; especially the Democrat candidate that always has the support of the Mainstream Media. If it's not astro-turfing, or planting questions in their stump garden, it's staging "authentic" support.

Obama is the best marketed politician I have ever seen. The media always makes McCain seem like a stodgy old man who cannot quite keep thinking straight. Obama is always marketed as clear thinking, happy and intuitive. I have never seen such a clear separation of candidates. Clinton was often portrayed as having a husband problem and somewhat frustrated. Obama is always in control. The media sees to it. I guess one can know who will be elected. It does not take a rocket scientist to know the answer to that. The cattle will always follow the leader's moo.

For the less observant, the signs were printed on both sides, and some in the crowd already had ones exactly like the ones the heeler was passing out. Typical Dummocrap phoney/fraudulent BS. This is the party that invented election fraud, and obviously, in spite of all the phoney pronouncements from Obummer, nothing has changed, nor will it.

You too much of a wuss to give out your name?

You are probably too stupid to know what a marxist is anyway. But here's a hint...look at barrack hussein obama....he is a classic marxst.

BTW...your momma have any kids that LIVED?!?

Ob_ma, may his name be praised, cannot be hurt by your pissy little comments. Those people "intended" to make signs - so the Ob_ma campaign made them for them. And a lot of those people will "intend" to vote, so their votes will be cast for them - what service!

Anonymous said...

Watch the crowd. They were begging for the signs. Me, me me. Would it be a big deal if they were giving out Tejanos for Obama t-shirts? No, it wouldn't, even though they still promote Obama and are being paid for by the people who want them. So your only issue is that the signs appear to be made by the individuals holding them rather than some volunteer working for nothing but the feeling of making a difference while stuck in a run down, storefront campaign office.

I've certainly brought extra home-made signs while counter-protesting "anti-war" activists, because sometimes people want to stop and join us; they ask for a sign to hold. Also sometimes I want to switch signs. People make signs just be be clever and we put them all together when we arrive. Some homemade signs look professional, thank to computers.

This is interesting but more information would be needed to know if the campaign actually made the homemade looking signs or if someone just brought them in and handed them to campaign workers because they wanted to help.

A youth group at a church might do that, for instance, or even local "anti-war" activist groups that love to make signs. And they would all have a similar style if they were made like that, too. Why would the campaign not pass out some signs if they were brought in?

Another explanation is people might bring in a sign at one campaign stop and afterwards say, "here, keep this sign" to a campaign worker. They would have quite a collection for future stops, then.

Bear in mind that I, too, think Obama is a Marxist and his policies horribly wrong. However, there's no sense raising a ruckus about something unless we know it to be true. This video is an indication of staging but not proof of anything. It needs to be taken further. It would be even more interesting if a reporter challenged Obama's campaign. what would they say?

Still, if someone takes a sign and holds it, then to me they are indicating they believe what's on the sign. If they really don't, then the signholders are guilty of deception, not someone who asks if they want to hold the sign.

Here in Sacramento the print shop and the fedexes from the LA office didn't get here in time for our rally, so we all stayed up all night - a group of 25 volunteers - making handmade signs like this. It happened in Baltimore too, and Portland - Portland sucked because the signs got there 1 hr before the rally after the volunteers spent a whole night, ALL night, making the signs.

I guess you can say it's staged. But I made about 30 such signs myself and wasn't trying to "stage" anything.

BRING YOUR MARKERS AND CHANGE THEM!! (even if you have to strap the markers to your legs to get them in!!)

The real tragedy here that no one is talking about is that the freedom of the press is really not anymore nor has it really ever been. "Main stream media" is owned by special interest just like it has always been. Ben Franklin was a politician too we are all just too IGNORANT to realize the game has always been fixed. It is just that this time it is the color purple rain do any white folks know what the color purple means?

Anonymous said...

His message was one of change?
Excuse the language but clearly he is full of shit! Oh wait, he did change something, his campaign gave away free signs and he did not shake your hand, now this is change we can believe in!

I stood in line for 3 and a half hours for a Hillary Clinton rally. Never once did I see someone from her campaign handing out"homemade" signs.

Unknown said...

No Terry, I've been involved in campaigns as a citizen my entire life, and passing out homemade signs has not ever happened to me. However, those things have occurred in staged protests against America abroad, where signs are passed out in English to people who don't speak English. The English signs are for the American people. The people holding them probably don't know what the sign says. Your testimony is more evidence that Obama is a media creation and that vulnerable people are used by him. He wants to be president. That is the only issue he is consistent on. He employs propaganda techniques, with empty slogans, because he has no substance. It would be funny except he is following the techniques employed by every dictator who has brought ruin to his country.

Unknown said...

Terry, I have a suggestion. Attend a McCain townhall meeting, and see if you notice a difference between feeling like a stage prop or a respected individual worthy of having your questions and comments heard. Senators and Legislators hold a lot of town hall meetings, as well.

I’m sure Obama will fix all the problems perfectly. All progress is possible and positive if we just hope.

People should vote on the real issues and a candidate's true character and political leanings, not just a bunch of populist fluff.

People are hypnotized with Obamamania and his Obammunism. Good fodder for Obama posters here. Posters about him reflect this puppy dogs, doves and rainbows feeling. The Obama Utopia.

If Obamassiah doesn't get POTUS in 2008 and if he can stay pretty clean, do some good things as Senator, and then become Governor of IL, he could be unstoppable in 2012 or 2016. Scary stuff.

I would dearly love to see a Jewish, African-American woman as POTUS. It's not race or gender that makes it for me though. It's political beliefs that matter, and socialism is bad for everybody, (accept those high in government or high-level academia) especially poor people, of all races. Obama is a dyed-in-the-wool Marxist, no thanks.

His 'Change', 'Hope' and 'Progress' mantras are actually somewhat self-mocking. Making your own Obama posters is totally addicting.
I laughed so hard I almost had a breakdown. LOL!

Listen to yourselves! Do you think that Obama went to his local campaign office and demanded that the volunteers make homemade signs to hand out at the rally? Most likely not...this would be the product of his loyal volunteers and he probably had no idea they weren't homemade!! Also, everyone in that crowd could speak and read English so they knew what the signs read and weren't forced to hold them up!!! I'm sure Obama isn't the first presidental candidate to have this happen at his rallies, nor will he be the last...

I have volunteered for political rallies that had a sign making party the night before. It was a light labor, informal way for the volunteers to meet each other and be given directions for the event. Plus it was always a lot of fun. I don't know, of course, if that was the case here, or if the signs were mass produced only to LOOK handmade (as opposed to homemade, as that term seems to have bothered some of you).

My guess is no one was forced to hold a sign? I would have been happy to have one myself.
