I've been thinking about the quote from Martin Luther King Jr.
that President Obama used in a press conference about Iran.
The quote goes like this: "The arc of the moral universe is long,
but it bends toward justice." I don't know if I agree with that.
It depends on the context. If by universe it means the world that
you and I live in right now, I would disagree. There is so much
injustice in this world that goes on without punishment. However,
if the "moral universe" includes the afterlife (Heaven or Hell) then
yes I agree the moral universe bends towards justice. I guess it
depends on what your definition of moral universe is. I think part
of the reason why religion brings solace to so many is because we
live in an unjust world.
