Rhyming Wisdom

The future is never promised or predictable.
The key to happiness is being grateful for what
you have today.
Never delude yourself to think your unsinkable.
Sometimes the satisfying things are the ones that are
delayed.

Inhale the light of day while the sun brightly shines
because the darkness will come soon.
Wrap yourself with the love of others.
Let go of the toxic people. They overcome those who
surround them with their fumes.
Wisdom can even be found in the words of those who
stutter.

Always beware of all that glitters because it could be
an empty facade.
It will surely fade away into the vastness of history.
Protect from me Lord from the barrage.
It's alright for Your will to remain a mystery.

How to write a political poem

In this video I read a poem
by Taylor Mali titled
'How to write a political poem.'
I was judging a local U.I.L.
event when I first heard it and
thought it was so rhythmic.

When All Was Gone

by Terry Rendon

You listened to me when all was gone.

I could never repay You for all
you've done.
Forever indebted is what I'll be.
Because the second chance you gave
me set my soul free.

Lost without direction You pointed
the Way.
I'm now devoted to You for forever
and a day.
Bring on the hard times because
I'm here to stay.

Naysayers will say what they will.
But on that dark day Your love was all
too real.

Feast or Famine

In life it's often feast or famine.
I stand by politely asking
for something to eat.
I've never desired anything lavish.
I just wanted an opportunity to take a seat.
Maybe some bread or water to ease my hunger
pains?
I'm going to speak up, even if it isn't turn.
I'm not just going to let things lie where
they may.
I'm taking into action all that I've learned.
I'm tired of standing at the fray.

Dotted Divider

Dreams of grandeur come to a halt by a loud
crashing into reality.
The shattered glass revealed that life had lost all its' banality.
Somewhere between the dotted dividers;
hope turned to worry.
No direction led to the uncompleted story.
But destiny reinserted itself when I braked.
The future is still to be paved.

No New Messages

The drive a home is a quiet one.
All the tasks that needed to be completed before the end of day are done.
The traffic lights turns green but there’s no where to go.
Home really doesn’t feel like home.
My voice mail tells me no new voice messages.
Loneliness besieges.

Purposeless

Seek and you shall find.
Well I don’t know what I’m looking for anymore.
I wonder if hope ever dies.
Knock and God will open the door.
I have my eyes wide open but still
my vision is blurry.
I walk around this place unnoticed.
I would go far away but my motive is getting dreary.
I’m the field plagued by locust.
I feel like I’m screaming but no one listening.
I guess I’m just not riveting.
Soon I will know my purpose…
Until then I will be purposeless.
