Doctor's refusing treatment- This article by Sabrina Rubin Erdely
delves into the issue of doctor's refusing to give certain treatments ,
for example the morning after pill, because of their religious beliefs.
This is such an ethical quandary. On one hand, I can see where one
may argue the doctor shouldn't with hold treatments because they
personally think a treatment is reprehensible. On the other hand,
doctor's are humans and have moral boundaries like everyone else.
I don't know about this one. Sometimes it is ok just to say, "I don't know."
This opinion poll reveals what people who visited the MSNBC.com
Web site thought (it seems I'm in the 1 percent):

Purity rings go to court- This article by Alan Cowell states, "...a
16-year-old member of an evangelical Christian movement protested
in court on Friday because her school has refused to allow her to wear
a so-called purity ring, symbolizing her commitment to premarital chastity."
The young woman, Lydia Playfoot, wasn't allowed to wear it because it was
a religious symbol. I think this is just wrong. Teenage years are full of self-expression
and if she wants to express her religious views in a ring, so be it. Especially when,
according to Ms. Playfoot's statement to the court, Sikh and Muslim pupils were
permitted distinctive dress to show their religious identity.
Obama says that some have 'hijacked' the faith- "Somehow, somewhere along
the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and faith started being
used to drive us apart," the Democratic presidential candidate said in a 30-minute
speech before the national meeting of the United Church of Christ.
Behind the masks- I really enjoyed reading Thomas Friedman's column. This
one is about what masks terrorists wear have come to represent.
Vacationing at Auschwitz-This article is on "Dark Tourism." Just creepy.
