Parade asks 'Does the U.N. still Matter?'

I opened up the newspaper today and took out my
Parade magazine and I thought the cover
asked an excellent question in bold font, "Does the
UN Still Matter?" The article gives a list of reasons
why some might think the UN doesn't matter:

1) The UN is riddled with scandals, from the looting of billions
from the Iraq Oil for Food program to rapes by peacekeepers.
2) It perpetuates human-rights double standards, criticizing democracies
like Israel but sitting silently by as dictatorships like Zimbabwe kill tens of
thousands.
3) Its resolutions have no teeth: Iran is just the latest to ignore UN mandates.

To me the U.N. has been extremely ineffective but that doesn't mean
it shouldn't once again be relevant.
Parade's online and text messaging poll revealed these results so far:
